The Coming Days will Remain Cold in these Cities !
As the new week begins, cold air continues to impact China, keeping temperatures lower than normal across both the north and south. In many areas, temperatures are expected to drop further, setting new records for the lowest readings in the second half of this year.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Fung-wong (Typhoon No. 24 of this year) remains active. Although it is unlikely to make landfall in China, it will interact with the cold air mass to bring strong winds and rainfall to some regions.
Persistent Low Temperatures Across the Country
The strongest cold air mass of the second half of 2025 is still affecting the country. This morning, many cities in both the north and south recorded their lowest temperatures since the start of autumn.
Shenyang and Yinchuan saw temperatures drop below 0°C for the first time since autumn began.
Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Nanchang all fell below 20°C for the first time this season.
Over the next three days, the cold air will continue to affect central and eastern China, bringing temperature drops of 4°C to 8°C, and in some places as much as 10°C. Many regions will again see their lowest temperatures of the second half of the year.
In particular, temperatures in many parts of central and eastern China will be 6°C to 10°C lower than the seasonal average.
In Inner Mongolia and Northeast China, daytime highs will remain in the single digits.
In North China, highs will hover around 10°C.
The 20°C line of maximum temperature will push southward to northern South China.
The 0°C minimum temperature line will extend from northern North China through northern Shaanxi to eastern Gansu, while the 10°C minimum line will move south to southern Guizhou, central Hunan, central Hubei, and central Anhui between October 21 and 22.
This wave of cold air will bring an early winter to many parts of North China and a full arrival of autumn to the Jiangnan region.
