eSim is Here! China Unicom , Mobile & Telecom
eSIM, or Embedded Subscriber Identity Module, is a next-generation SIM card standard developed by the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA). Unlike traditional physical SIM cards, eSIM integrates the communication function directly into the device’s chip, allowing for remote configuration of carrier information. This technology offers advantages such as greater flexibility, convenience, security, and space savings in devices.
Earlier today, China Unicom announced that it had officially received approval to launch commercial trials for eSIM mobile services. This milestone reflects over ten years of technical accumulation and practical exploration by China Unicom in the eSIM field. It is expected to inject new momentum into the development of the digital economy and terminal connectivity innovations.
China Unicom's eSIM registration opened at the end of September, and users can enter the eSIM registration section via the China Unicom app’s homepage to fill in their details and complete the registration process.
Later on the evening of October 13, China Mobile also announced that it had received approval for conducting commercial trials of eSIM mobile services. Customers can visit China Mobile service centers to handle eSIM mobile services and enjoy a more convenient and flexible communication experience. For more information on available service points, users can check the China Mobile app.
On the same day, China Telecom announced that it had received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for eSIM mobile service trials. The eSIM service is now available for sale in all 31 provinces and cities in China. However, during the trial period, online registration for eSIM services will not be available. Customers can visit offline China Telecom service centers in various provinces to activate their eSIM services.
